COMPETITION RULES
1. Objective
-
Promote the art of calligraphy and preserve traditional cultural activities in Singapore.

Encourage public interest in calligraphy, especially among students and different social groups.
2. Competition Categories
ONLY SINGAPORE CITIZENS AND SINGAPORE PERMANENT RESIDENTS CAN PARTICIPATE.
The competition is divided into four categories:

Open Category:
Open to the general public aged 18 and above, including university students. -
Junior College / High School Category:
Open to students from junior colleges, senior high schools, arts institutions, and polytechnics. -
Secondary School Category:
Open to students from secondary schools and Institutes of Technical Education (ITE). -
Primary School Category:
Open to students from primary schools.
3. Date, Time & Venue

📅 Date: 3 May 2025 (Saturday)
🕦 Time: The competition is divided into four groups. (Participants must report 15 minutes before the competition time. No further notifications will be given.)

11:50 AM – 12:00 PM: Opening Ceremony

12:00 PM – 12:30 PM: Primary School Category Competition

12:30 PM – 1:00 PM: Secondary School Category Competition
-
1:00 PM – 1:30 PM: Junior College / High School Category Competition

1:30 PM – 2:00 PM: Open Category Competition
4. Registration & Labeling

The participants must register digitally through the registration form below BEFORE 30TH APRIL 2025 5 PM. Registrations received after the cutoff date and time will NOT be valid.

For the participants who have successfully registered, the organizer will print an Artwork Label. 15 mins before the competition time, all participants MUST collect the form in person at:

Before submission of the artwork, all participants must attach the Artwork Label at the bottom right corner of the back of their artwork.
5. Writing Tools

Participants must bring their own calligraphy tools (Da Kai brush, Zhong Kai brush, ink, etc.). Ink will NOT be provided.

The competition topic and calligraphy papers will be provided by the organizer. Only Yan Style Regular Script (Kai Shu) or Yan Style Running Script (Xing Shu) writings is accepted.
6. Additional Rules

The organizer allows participants to bring dictionaries into the competition.

During the competition, participants are not allowed to use mobile phones for calls or video recording.
7. Judging & Evaluation
-
The judging panel will consist of renowned calligraphy experts from Singapore.

Once the evaluation is complete, the results are final and cannot be contested.
8. Awards & Prizes
-
[To be confirmed] An equivalent value reward system will be adopted.

Each winner will also receive a certificate.

10. Additional Notes

If there are any unforeseen issues, the organizer reserves the rights to make amendments without prior notice.

Participants who did not attend the award ceremony will not receive their prize.
